Movies are exciting and exhilarating and can transport you to a world that you could only imagine in your dreams. There are lots of fun, and brilliant older movies but there is a unique excitement to watching a new movie and being part of that first group that gets to watch a new work of art.

Many people have favorite actors, actresses, directors, producers, writers and want to keep abreast of all the new movies that they are partaking in that will be released in the future. That is why it is so great to have a blog to read that gives viewers a chance to access information about new movies before the movie is released.

There are many ways to access online information for new movies. These include checking out different production companies websites, the internet movie database and reading trade magazines. However, it is great when all the information you could want or need is contained in one blog.

It is always fun to check out video clips and trailers from new movies, photos, interviews and other movie details. It makes a viewer feel more invested and excited to see the movie on the big screen and helps them imagine what the movie is going to be like.

The summer of 2011 is almost over. The season may be winding down, but a determined movie goer can still catch many exciting action flicks. Thor came out early this summer. The midsummer season saw Captain America and Cowboys and Aliens. Even before Captain America hit the silver screen, DC fans could watch the antics of Green Lantern.

If the movie goer did not want to watch super hero movies, the final Harry Potter movie also made its way to the theaters.Want more? Click here/tag While everyone knows what happens, fans still flocked to the theaters in droves to see it.

One of the more interesting elements of 2011 was Stephen Spielberg returning to the idea of aliens. Spielberg, who though he had done enough with movies like E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. E.T. is a touching story of friend ship, while Close Encounters of the Third Kind has a more mysterious element. Super 8 is almost a pure action film from the beginning. You do not even know aliens are involved until you make it halfway through the movie.

An action move fan can find enough sizzling hot action to suit his tastes, but he must hurry. The summer movie season ends at about the same time schools go back into session.

It’s been breaking box office records and getting strong reviews but be warned, it’s not a great film to start with if you haven’t seen the others.
Transformers: The third (and hopefully final) Transformers movie is out now and it’s been getting lukewarm if not tepid reviews. Shia Lebouf is back but we’ve got bad news: if you liked the others because of Megan Fox you’ll be sorely disappointed here.
Planet of the Apes: This redux has just started appearing in commercials and looks somewhat compelling if not overly computer generated. It seems perfect for the mid-fall movie slump, though, so we suggest taking a chance on it.

Swedish film director Tomas Alfredson makes a good argument for why his 2008 film Let the Right One In shouldn’t be remade. “If one should remake a film, it’s because the original is bad. And I don’t think mine is,” he told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet (The Evening Sheet). It certainly was not, and has the awards from Tribeca, the Swedish Film Institute, and the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation to prove it. However, we have hope that writer and director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) can bring something special to his version, Let Me In. At the very least, viewers of his previous film won’t have to worry about getting dizzy at this one.But there’s more to recommend it than that. The film stars talented child actors Chloe Moretz (Hit-Girl from Kick-Ass) as Abby and Kodi Smit-McPhee (the unnamed boy from The Road) as Owen. For those unfamiliar with the plot, Owen is a 12-year-old victim of bullying who befriends Abby and discovers that she’s actually a vampire. The names have been changed from the original, along with the setting being transported to New Mexico. It’s unclear whether Let Me In will borrow more from Alfred’s film (as producer Simon Oakes has said) or the original novel (which writer John Ajvide Lindqvist has stated). At a panel during Comic-Con 2010, writer/director Matt Reeves said that his main inspiration is the “coming of age” aspect of the story, and to that end, he’s focused on putting the audience in the characters’ shoes, even if it gets uncomfortablenot physically, as in Cloverfield, but emotionally, as viewers see what lengths a child might go to when pushed beyond the edge. The film will be released on October 1, so there’s not much longer to wait. Until then, catch up on the original versions, and be sure to see Let Me In when it premieres.

Overall, it’s probably a good thing that The Social Network is being released. As a country, we know far too little about the technologies and tools we use every day, focusing instead only on the results. As The Social Network shows by describing the story behind the development of Facebook, this can be a dangerous attitude.Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland) stars as Mark Zuckerberg, the soft-spoken, outrageously rich Harvard dropout and co-founder of Facebook. Even the most disconnected viewer has by now heard something of the sour history behind that status, with several other Harvard students claiming that Zuckerberg misrepresented his role in the project. Zuckerberg himself has expressed unhappiness at the fact that a version of his life will be put on display in the film. He’s right to worry, considering that Eisenberg has called Zuckerberg the most “overtly insensitive” character he’s ever played.Other actors appearing in the film include Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin, Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker, and Joseph Mazzello as Dustin Moskovitz. Sean Parker was the founder of Napster, who worked with the Facebook founders in the early days of the site. Moskovitz and Saverin were two of the four founders of Facebook, along with Zuckerberg and Chris Hughes (played in the film by Patrick Mapel). Saverin was also a consultant on Ben Mezrich’s 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires, which tells roughly the same story. Meanwhile, Moskovitz has supported Zuckerberg against the film’s perspective. So far, the most news the film has made is a viral meme based on the trailer, which uses a Belgian choir’s cover of the Radiohead song “Creep” to unnerving effect. It seems like this film is one we’re going to have to play by ear, since no one is sure what the response by the general public will be. The film will be released on October 1.

Joaquin Phoenix, what happened? You were such a quiet young man in The Village, and were downright charming in Walk the Line. But with your announcement of retiring from acting in order to become a hip-hop star, people have begun asking questions. Does I’m Still Here have the answers we’re looking for?To start off, his new movie, a documentary (or is it mockumentary? No one’s sure) of his recent life, shares a title with a film he participated in called I’m Still Here: Real Diaries of Young People Who Lived During the Holocaust. Is the naming a joke, a parody of his former reputation as a social activist? If so, I’m not getting it. Following a stint of rehab in 2005, a car accident in 2006, and a bumbling disaster of an interview with David Letterman in 2009, it’s been hard to get a handle on the once renowned actor. After getting a glimpse into Phoenix’s life with the new film (directed by his friend Casey Affleck), people may be sorry they ever wished for explanation. Without acknowledging whether it’s truly a display of Hollywood hedonism or simply an outlandish prank, the film follows Phoenix as he attempts to follow his hip-hop dreams with manager Sean “Diddy” Combs. Nudity, drug use, and other unmentionable behavior assault the viewer in waves. While the whole thing comes off as nothing you’ve ever seen before, whether it’s worth it remains an unanswered question. The film is opening in select theaters on September 10, with September 17. Perhaps as time goes on we’ll get more answers to what exactly is going on here. Until then, if you still want to check out I’m Still Here, proceed at your own risk.

In 2007, director Russell Mulcahy told Fangoria magazine that Resident Evil: Extinction would “close the book” on the video-game-based film trilogy. However, both video game and movie fans are familiar with the simple fact that anything that sells will continue. Grossing over 140 million, the negative reviews for the film barely phased it, and here we are three years later on the verge of the next installment in the series: Resident Evil: Afterlife. Given what we know, should you put on your zombie costume and show up opening night, or wait for it to hit primetime cable?Afterlife does have some new elements which will please fans of both the game and film series. The most obvious of these is the fact that it’s 3D, filmed with James Cameron’s 3D Fusion Camera System. For most of us, it’s the closest we’ll get to getting bitten by a zombie ourselves. Afterlife also contains the first film appearance of video game character Chris Redfield, played by Wentwort Miller (Prison Break, Underworld). Chris is the brother of Claire Redfield, whose role is reprised by Ali Larter in this film. The film also takes the plot a step forward, marking the first time protagonist Alice (Milla Jovovich) meets Albert Wesker, the “supervillain” of the series. Wesker’s appeared before, but the two characters have never come in contact. Capable of outlandish feats of strength and regeneration, along with a healthy burst of speed, Wesker was played by Jason O’Mara in Extinction, but is played by Shawn Roberts (Edge of Darkness, I Love You, Beth Cooper) in the new film. The trailer for the film certainly looks like it will maintain the frenetic pace of previous installments, and the chance to see villains from the game like exploding Dobermans and the Majini (zombie-like creatures infected by parasites) makes the movie worth a look. Still, the film will have to do a lot of work to justify continuing the series further.

Before Resident Evil: Afterlife opens this Friday, the results are in for last weekend’s contenders. What movies are drawing in the crowds this week, and do they deserve it? Read on to find out.5. Going the Distance (8.5 million): This romantic comedy has the makings of a good film. Unlike many movies, both guy and girl are stable and in love, and everything would be fine if they weren’t across the country from each other. However, it also has the Hollywood wild carda real-life couple (Justin Long and Drew Barrymore), and while it’s not quite the disaster Gigli was, it’s no Mr. and Mrs. Smith, either.4. The Last Exorcism (8.7 million): Despite its title, I have a feeling this won’t be the last exorcism movie we see. Luckily, Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel) manages to take two time-worn conceits (exorcism and a “shaky camera” documentary style) and create an engaging, if not wholly original, horror flick.3. Takers (13.5 million): Heist movies enjoyed a brief resurgence in popularity in the mid-2000s with titles like The Italian Job and the Ocean’s trilogy. Is Takers as good as those movies? Not even close. While some of the action sequences come close, it lacks the charming characters and emotional resonance that made those films hits.2. Machete (14.1 million): You wouldn’t expect a film that started out as a fake trailer for Grindhouse to be able to carry its own weight, but if you’re not expecting too much, Machete fully delivers on its premise. An intriguing ensemble cast, including Robert De Niro, Cheech Marin, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba, and Don Johnson, livens up the proceedings.1. The American (16.6 million): Surprisingly, the film that outperformed all others last week is a slow-burning character piece about an amoral assassin (George Clooney). Directed by Anton Corbjin (Control), reviewers have commented on the film’s strong European flavorwhich presumably refers to the fact that things aren’t blowing up every five minutes.
