This has been called the summer of sequels and there’s no wonder – over 1/3 of the films in theaters in July were sequels of previous movies! Some of them are worth seeing, though, and if you don’t want to wait for them to hit your Direct.tv you’ve got to get out soon and see these sequels in theaters…
Harry Potter: The final installment of the harrowing journey of Harry Potter wraps up neatly this summer. It’s been breaking box office records and getting strong reviews but be warned, it’s not a great film to start with if you haven’t seen the others.
Transformers: The third (and hopefully final) Transformers movie is out now and it’s been getting lukewarm if not tepid reviews. Shia Lebouf is back but we’ve got bad news: if you liked the others because of Megan Fox you’ll be sorely disappointed here.
Planet of the Apes: This redux has just started appearing in commercials and looks somewhat compelling if not overly computer generated. It seems perfect for the mid-fall movie slump, though, so we suggest taking a chance on it.
